One of my particular interests is leading Hellinger Family Workshops, in London, Hertfordshire and Bristol. I will gladly travel to other places to introduce this inspiring work (SEE more details about this work further on). This work is very healing and inspiring and can give us many answers to our problems. Long-standing situations, relationships and problems that have been troubling us can begin to heal very quickly.
I am also a qualified and experienced chemical dependency counsellor, which covers alcohol and drug abuse, misuse, dependency problems. I am experienced and trained as counsellor within 12-step programmes of recovery.
I work to support those who are facing a wide range of human life changes and emotional problems as well as difficult family relationships -
- Facing change – life choices
- Relationships/Family relationships
- Family of origin/Family of creation
- Self-Esteem/Confidence
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Grief and loss
- Death or illness of a loved one
- Identity (finding True Self)
- Boundary issues/needs within a relationship
The approach taken is humanistic, in the belief that, given the right support, people are able to explore and find their own solutions to difficulties and become increasingly independent and confident in the process. The aim is to empower you whilst allowing you fully to explore your feelings, values and beliefs, making connections with family of origin patterns and being able to move towards functioning with increasing self-awareness and integrity. Value is given to the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist, a view supported by research.
I do not presume to know the right answers for you or to know better than you. This is a mutual journey of exploration. We work at your pace, whatever feels comfortable and safe. As time goes on, I hope that you may feel safe and trusting to divulge more and to journey more into the unknown for you, gaining self-awareness. This is how you make most progress.
You are very welcome to come along and have an introductory talk with me about your needs – whatever you feel you want to talk about or are struggling with at the moment.
There is also the possibility of group therapy where members meet to offer a variety of experiences and support. This can be a therapeutic workshop or an experiential group.
If you prefer, after an initial consultation, I can support you by counselling on-line by e-mail. During our first meeting we will look at your issues and together work out the possible way forward for you. I work in a transparent way, and am open to you asking questions about your therapy.
I work to the Ethical Codes of UKCP, UKAHPP, BACP and FDAP. Everything you tell me is absolutely confidential, and – as a professional requirement - I am supervised by a very experienced supervisor at the Open Centre, London. I use a pseudonym when talking to him during supervision with a view to gaining a wider perspective and knowledge in my work with you.
